Thursday

Today has been the loooongest day. I woke up to the delicate sounds of Aiden banging around downstairs at 7 a.m. I could also hear him talking Dad's ear off. This kid wakes up talking a mile a minute. I refused to get out of bed before 8 even though I couldn't go back to sleep. I rolled out of bed at 8:01 and headed downstairs. I got everyone fed and dressed and by the time I was showered and ready myself it was 10. I took the kids to the park thinking I could walk on the track while they played on the playground. Yeah, not so much. Aiden started following me around before I was even a full lap around, then Lia lay on the ground and refused to walk any further after we visited the fish pond. Needless to say it was time to go and she DID get up and walk her little hind parts home. It was sooo hot outside today that we pretty much camped out inside watching movies for the rest of the day. Aiden had a friend come over this evening to play on the slip n slide for awhile which was fun for them. Then came dinner & baths and then finally bed time. I'm beat. And my team is currently loosing in the bottom of the 8th. They were winning when they came into this inning. Then they put in the closer that got the loss yesterday... and the SAME GUY hit ANOTHER 2 run double off of him. Homeboy does NOT have good luck in this stadium apparently. Personally I would have hit that SOB when he came to the plate after stealing the game from me the day before. But I'm ghetto like that.

Waterslides and Baseball upsets

Today was my first day with Lia and Aiden. They'll be here for 5 days while Amber and Smitty are back east for a funeral. They arrived around 11 and we had a quick pancake brunch (and good lord can they put away some pancakes... I felt like Aunt Jamima). Next on the agenda was an hour or so of cartoons (a ploy to gain a few moments peace to check my facebook and blogs). To everyone's delight, Gramma and Papa (and some Popeye's chicken) arrived home around 3 o'clock. Mom took a 5 week vacation back east and we are all glad that she is finally home. After a little Gramma fix it was time for "Rest Time"(a.k.a. "Adult Recovery" time because Auntie is about this - close to passing out right here on the couch) which lasted for an hour and a half or so. We cut that short though and headed down to Janelle's house so they could play with her kids on their big inflatable water slide. They sure had a blast down there and were really fun to watch. (But holy crap what is with the tattling at this age??? If no one is bleeding or requiring immediate medical attention, I really don't care what happened). But anyway, on with the pictures!

Tonight Jake and Dad had softball games so I threw Lia into a quick bath, got her ready for bed then went to grab Aiden only to find him fast asleep in his bed in front of a movie. Rather than wake him (it was already 7:30) I just let him sleep dirty :) He played on the water slide... that counts a little right :) Anyway, I left mom with the sleeping (and almost asleep) kids and met the boys at the ball park to watch their games (they split... lost the first game, won the second)while I listened to the Roadrunners game on my handy little walkman radio.

As for the roadrunner's game, they were down 2-0 til the top of the 7th, where they blew up for 5 runs and led 5-2. The score stayed the same until the bottom of the 9th... with one out. Chico is at the plate, 2 walks led to a 2 RBI double and then a 2 run walk off home run for the win! I HATE when that freakin' happens (to us)!!! I mean OUR team does that to other teams all the time, but it hardly ever happens to us. Crap.

Happy Birthday to me...

I had a good birthday today. Dad got up early and went and got me a present (Guitar Hero World Tour) and a cake. Lori, Kaylee & Trent came over and brought me some cute earrings, then Amber, Smitty, Aiden and Lia joined us and brought me a funny t-shirt. We played Guitar Hero until my fingers were cramping. It has some 311 on it (whooohooo!). Rochelle stopped by around 6 and brought me the first half of my birthday present (a t-shirt autographed by most of the Roadrunners), then around 6:30 Dad and I headed up to the ballpark where we met Smitty and the kids. There I got the second half of my present from Rochelle (a shirtless, sweaty pin-up of a player that was taken last night just for me...all I could say to was Daaaaaaammmmnnnn! (and holy shit I can't believe she made him do that!) It was autographed as well with a happy birthday wish on it). The boys gave me the rest of my birthday present, blowing out Orange County 21-9... it was great. By the end of the game Lia had dad heckling the other team like a champ. Tonight's game was a little bittersweet as Juan, my other favorite player (757 in the house) has decided to give it up and move on... tonight was his last game :( I may have shed a tear but wish him the best in whatever he decides to do. Thanks to everyone who made my birthday special... love you all.

Another summer day...

Can I just stop and say for a minute how freaking great it is not to have to go to work for awhile? Not that I don't love my job but HOLY CRAP I love waking up whenever I want and having the whole day to do just the things that I want to do. I'm sure my tune will change in another week or so, but so far, LOVING summer vacation.

Today I got to watch Kaylee and Trent while Lori went and got her hair did. Sorry, no pictures of Kaylee as she was too busy watching the Hefelumps movie to even spare me a glance. And I can't upload the pictures of Trent right now because Sprint's website is down for routine maintenance (damn it!) As it were, Trent didn't have much time for me either. I fed him... then he slept for 2.5 hours. I mean like passed out asleep, not even flinching when I picked his arm up and dropped it a few times (cuz I'm soothing like that). Nice. Sorry Lor, call me if he's up all night... really... I'll be up :)

I listened to my baseball game today on the radio. Well the first 55 minutes of it... then they had a 2 hour and 19 minute rain delay before we could listen to the REST of it. They boys wanted to give in and go back to the hotel... I don't blame them. The other team wouldn't have it though and after the 2 hour rain delay we ended up losing 5-1. They should have just let us forfeit. Outfielders should NOT have to jump over lakes (or charge through them) to catch a routine pop fly. Soggy shoes kinda ruin the effect.

Not much else to report. Oh yeah, did I mention how much I LOVE summer vacation? Oh I did? My bad.

Happy Forth of July...

Happy 4th of July everybody. I'm heading out to Jakesha's in about an hour (hooray for bbq and LOTS of fun!)

I've had a busy few days. On Monday I took some new pictures of Trent... which are as of yet unedited (sorry Lori) but I'll work on them in the endless stretch of a week I have looming in front of me. On Tuesday we (Jakesha, boys and I) headed down to Las Vegas to pick up Lisa & kids. We stayed in the Sunset Station in Henderson (which I highly recommend... Vegas without most of the Vegas BS). Unfortunately, the airline lost Jasmin's luggage (why the 15 year old girl? they care the most!) Anyway, of course Uncle Jake volunteered to take her shopping to hold her over until her bag arrived. We shopped in the HUGE Henderson mall across the street, went bowling in the hotel, swimming, dinner on the strip, a quick adventure walk to see the sights & hotels, then back home on Thursday morning! Good Times.

Thursday night I headed straight out to the ball field to see my boys win a great game 4-2, last night not so lucky as they got beat 18-13. As of right now they are in first place by 6 games in their division... WHOOHOO!!!

I'll post some pictures when I get a chance, just wanted to jot down a few things. I'm out!

Playing Catch Up...

So I haven't been around in awhile... sorry, I was slackin' big time and then baseball season started and you know how my baseball seasons go :) Anyway, I've missed a few birthday posts, I forgot to do Avery's birthday post in April (22) so sorry my sweet girl.

And Annie (June 26)

Happy Birthday to my favorite sister on the Gulf Coast :) Wish I could have been there for everyone's birthday fun.

Baseball season started in May, so of course I have been busy for the last several weeks. A shout out to Uncle Mike for my season tickets, thank you, thank you a million times over!

This is pretty much my view every night of the summer (they'd just thrown down, that's why everyone's all lined up). Love watchin' my boys. They're in first place this year (whoohooo!!) and I'm lovin' it!

Also, at the end of May, Damien graduated from kindergarten. Yay! Congratulations to him! He will be starting full day school as a big first grader! CJ will be starting 2nd grade and Aiden will be going into Kindergarten as well.

In other news, (I know... sooo far behind!!) Lori had her baby on Monday (6/22) afternoon. Trent Allen Jardine was 8 lbs 5 oz and born at 2:50 pm. He is so cute and sweet that he makes my ovaries ache a little. Linda and Lexi (along with sweet baby Hunter) came down to be with her when she had him. We had a great time playing together this week and I'm so sad that they're leaving tomorrow. We went to Pirate Island Pizza tonight for one last outing and had a great time. We sure will miss them. Anyway, on with the pictures... how sweet are these boys?

So I think this pretty much concludes the catch up. I'm going to try to do better blogging so they don't all end up being novels like this. We'll see how that goes :) Anyway, I'm out... HOLLA! :)

Waiting for Spring...

"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball.
I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring." ~Rogers
Hornsby
I found this today while I was browsing for quotes for a scrapbook page and it reminded me of myself. I'm always waiting for spring. Anyone can tell you that I LIVE at the ballpark all spring/summer watching my Roadrunners play and love every
freaking minute of it. In the past two years combined I think I've missed maybe 7 or 8 games. That's out of about 80-something games (Not counting the horrendous amount of away games I've taken in over the radio). This year is no exception. Baseball season ended in August and I started having immediate withdrawals. Of course there is one thing I DON'T miss... Jesus I hate that damn bird. I found this on the Roadrunners website last night and cracked up. Notice the metal pencil clenched like a boot knife, trying my best to keep from jabbing it into his freaky plastic eye or from springing over the back of my seat and grabbing that obnoxious S.O.B. by his itty bitty birdie parts and flinging his ass over the rail :) For some reason he picked this exact location to "dance" (a.k.a. make a fool of his tall, gangly, white-boy self) every single freaking night. Now I know that my seat is right in the middle of the complex, but by all that's holy, get the fuck away from me. I don't like birds and I hate people in costume, so the combination just gives me the creeps. But I'd deal with him for a year solid if that meant I didn't have to go six months without my baseball team :(

Whoo-hoooooo!!!!

Our boys got a win tonight! 21-12 over the Yuma Scorpions. Ryan had 2 home runs (back to back), Brandon got one and Claudio got one. Soooo much fun at the game tonight.

Oh and as for the game I was searching for a few nights ago... turns out they couldn't broadcast because they were in the middle of nowhere and couldn't get a phone line, much less a wireless signal. They ended up winning like 30-16. In the recap I got, Ryan had 3 Home runs (with like 7 RBIs), Trever went like 5-7 or something crazy like that... that's all the details I remember. I was pissed! It would be a great game that I miss!

Last night they blew an 11 run lead. It was painful to watch. Poor Devin... I hate watching a pitcher struggle, especially one that's usually great. Then even our closer, Pluta, struggled a bit. That is soooo rare I think I was a little in shock. He's usually right on. But everyone has bad nights. I've been there... in both positions... being the pitcher that's struggling and being in the field as you watch your lead slip away and feeling helpless and frustrated because there's nothing you can do about it.

But we came back with a big win tonight and it was nice to see them light up and go for it. It was crazy though, every one of our home runs tonight followed a walk. You know what they say, those walks always come around to bite you in the ass. Better them than us :)

Okay, I'll stop boring everyone with the baseball rundown... I know no one who reads this cares but me :) Thanks for hanging in there :)

Like a crackhead searching for a hit...

Oh my God, I searched FOREVER for the Roadrunners game tonight. It wasn't on the radio, wasn't on the Internet radio, wasn't on the other team's Internet radio, wasn't on the league website. I seriously looked everywhere I could think of to look. Don't know what happened, but no broadcast for me tonight so I have no idea how the game went or if it got canceled or what the hell happened. Oh well, they'll be home tomorrow... I am so ready for some live baseball!

Painful...

I'm listening to the Roadrunners baseball game on the radio and they are down 15-1 in the bottom of the 8th inning. It has been a rather exciting game as our pitcher Shannon was ejected in the 4th inning after hitting a batter (which was BS... i would have hit that mother fucker too after the previous batter jacked a grand slam that still hasn't landed. As long as it's not a pitch beamed at someones head I think there should always be a warning first). Then in the 6th inning the new pitcher hit the same guy that Shannon had hit in the 4th. The guy charged the mound and there was a bench clearing brawl... I swear I miss them all. They had a huge fight at home last season and it just happened to be one of the like 4 games that I missed.

One of my dad's friends who has season tickets behind us says that it's funny to watch me at the games... I wonder if it has anything to do with all the cringing and yelling I do.

WHOOOOO-HOOOOO Ryan just scored... now it's 15-2. 14 more in the 9th inning with one out and we've got the W.

Mmm... yeah didn't quite work out. We lost 15-2. New field tomorrow new luck. Shake things up and see what happens.

Holy Baseball Batman!

So everyone knows that I'm a baseball freak. And yes, I readily admit to listening to them play on the radio while they're on the road. I have to know how they're doing... who has good games, who has bad games... all that stuff. I even keep a score book at the games(though I don't as readily admit to that) 1) to help my ADHD ass pay attention and 2) because I like to be able to look back at past at bats against pitchers and from the other team to know what to expect. Baseball geek... yes, I already admitted it.

So anyway, last night I listened to the Roadrunners playing in Long Beach and holy crap, the game lasted 4 hours! They went 13 innings, tied most of the game at 1-1! It was such an intense game and I listened to the whole damn thing! Unfortunately in the bottom of the 13th inning, Long Beach managed to score and come out with the win. Still... hell of a night of baseball... good thing they had today off.
